Testing some iPhone blogging apps. First up, iBlogger, while nice looking, don't do landscape editing. Very disappointing. Seems stable in it's features and editing abilities. Landscape isn't a total deal breaker but it would sure help me liking it. Of course, the $9.99 price tag kills this, Mail.app does this type of blogging, and it's built into the OS.
iBlogger does offer nice editing of older posts, and draft saving built in. A "view in Safari" button brings up your blog so you can see your posts in the browser. You can add pictures, links, tags, and locations to your posts.
The interface is sleek, clean and easy to understand. Has all the features you could ask for and feels stable and refined. Quite close to being perfect if it offered landscape editing with the same functionality and lowered the price a few dollars couldn't hurt either. I can post the same blog for free numerous ways on my iPhone, the interface here isn't worth that much of a mark-up.
In all honesty, the more I type with it the more I like it. Seems landscape isn't such a big deal after all!

macbook battery
Today I got sick of looking at this battery sitting on my table, which no longer worked for my laptop. So I decided to put it back into the battery slot on the MacBook, and decided I'd run through the Apple tests one more time for shits and giggles (this being the umteenth time doing so). Low and behold, after 10 months of owning this computer, and about 4 of them passed by waiting to afford a new logic board; my battery worked! I haven't been successful at getting it to start charging since replacing my logic board. I thought for sure I fried the battery also so many months ago.
Now I actually have a laptop. While this still won't stop the thing from giving me third degree burns on my lap while using it; I've got the luxury of being able to actually use this thing somewhere else besides the kitchen table!

I just wanted to send a blog from my new iPod just to see if it works. If you got the money for one of these, do yourself a favor and buy one!

cars and computers
These two things can stress one out pretty good. Add in two kids, a girlfriend, and life itself, and you get one hell of a mess.
My car, which is well past personally considered to be junk, needed some repairs. Since I just got my tax return I could afford some repairs (but not a decent new vehicle) so I decided to get the car (now in my possession for the past nine years) to the shop today. It turns out, I had some major issues. Of course, I had assumed that, so I was prepared to spend some money on the car. Well, $2000 later, I definitely feel I'm wasting my money. That could have been a down payment on a newer, more reliable vehicle. But no, I'm stuck sinking the money into a pit. Only just for the simple fact that I don't have enough money to afford a payment on a newer vehicle. So I'm stuck with what I've got.
Next, we have the computer. The iMac I bought four years ago died. Well all computers die, but this laptop from 1999 which ran a web server for nearly four years, continues to run. Now, where's the logic in that? The only problem with this laptop is the battery no longer works, which is to be expected after nine years of use.
I'm purchasing a MacBook with the remainder of my tax return, even though I wanted to pay my bills off with this money. After sinking $2,000 into a worthless car, I figure, what's the point?
Well my car should be working great after this bit of repairs. Even though it still needs a new windshield and some body work, I think I can make it last. The new MacBook, well I guess it'll give me a good four year run when I get it.
Cars and computers, can't think of a better way to waste $3,000. Can you?

time
If I had the time, I would most surely write down all the weird and crazy things I do here and keep some kind of personal archive of information so I don't forget all this stuff myself. But, I don't. I do plan on doing a few "article" type updates to this blog, or at least I would if I found the time and the will to do them. The most important change is the coming of my second child. Due to be born this December, I will then be a father of two! After that point, I'll be lucky if I can answer phone calls since my hands will definitely be full at all times.
Anyway, I'm not dead, I'm just busy with other things. Maybe I'll write a real blog later.

my valentine
This Valentine's Day, I had planned a nice evening at a hotel with a hot tub for Krissy and I. Unfortunately, that isn't going as planned this weekend. Hopefully I can accomplish this in the next few weeks, before the holiday gets away from me. Got to love all the babysitters in this world.
I really didn't plan any other gift for her this year. Previously, I've got her clothes, jewelry, flowers, etc, and always tried to make her feel special, because she is special to me, and like any good boyfriend I like to make her feel that way.
But in a complete surprise move on her part, she got me a ring.
Some would venture to call this gift a "promise ring". I got her a promise ring a little over a year ago, on last Sweetest Day. I still haven't popped the question yet, not because I don't want to, but because I'm not in the financial position yet to buy a Engagement Ring. I had planned to do that by now, but it's looking like it's going too take a bit more time for that.
This gift came as a total surprise to me and I definitely love it. The best things in life are surprises and this was definitely one of them.
Krissy, if you read this, you've managed to make me feel very special today, and have given me a very nice boost in confidence about our relationship, and our future. I hope you had the same feeling when I gave you your ring so long ago. My feelings haven't changed, only gotten stronger.
Knowing that you feel the same way about me as I do you, means more than anything in the world to me. Thank you for being you and thank you for loving me. You've made me feel very special on this Valentine's Day.
I love you, Krissy.

i got served
I'm sure someone would say "You Got Served" is a great movie. Today, I'm using it as a pun because I got served court papers. I'm being sued for something like $822 for moving out of a leased apartment I had. Some may recall me living in Lincoln Park a while back, and some shady shit was going on with the apartment complex. Not to mention Krissy got pregnant and the landlords there did absolutely nothing to fix things that were wrong when I moved in. Plus the entire building was infested with cockroaches and all around disgusting. So after months of harassing phone calls, letters in the mail and more, they are now trying to sue me for money they claim I owe them.
They claim I have refused to pay them this money (whether I owe it or not is debatable), since they actually broke my lease before I did. Which would then make this debt null and void. But alas, I am not a lawyer and I am not skilled in the laws definition of these things.
To make it that more amusing to me is the fact that I've been paying them the money for months now. How can you sue someone for not paying a debt when they are actively paying said debt to the debtor?
I've got 21 days to appeal this debt so now I have to get my paperwork and receipts for my payments (which they have accepted... they cashed the checks) and show this as proof in the courthouse. I'm pretty sure one cannot be sued by a debtor when they are paying a debt back to them. I guess I'll find out soon.
This whole thing makes me recall that line from "Rocky V" near the end with the fight with Tommy Gunn.... "Sue me for what?" Rocky says. I like that.

the holidays are over....
and not a moment too soon! Christmas has gone by, Krissy's birthday and New Years has come and gone. Now it's time to go back to normal life again. I go back to midnights monday and I can't wait. It'll give me some time to sit around and play my Zelda game and just relax and hopefully get some other things done around the house. Maybe I'll even get to watch all these movies I keep getting here and not watching... that all sounds nice, probably won't do any of it though!

baby pics cont.
my birthday
Yea, my birthday was about six days ago now. It's been a long week of working and such so I haven't had the time to update this lonely little place. Things of interest that I received would be a copy of Sin City on DVD. The awesome two disk edition, which comes complete with the first Sin City graphic novel, which is very cool, as I never got to read it before. And a second disk with the uncut movie split up into the individual stories. Very cool.
I also got the Final Fantasy III Nintendo DS game. Very nice also. This game is not as good as I had hoped it would turn out, but it is still a nice piece of gaming history to own. I like that the game is exactly like the NES version only turned 3D. Only thing is, the 3D could have been better and the game could have used a bit more fine-tuning. Other than that, I'm having a great time playing this game again.
Not bad for turning 28. I would have been happy with that stuff if I had turned 12 also! ;)

baby pics
We finally got the new baby pictues back today. I'll take them to my mom's tomorrow and run them through the scanner so I can put up some new pics for the world to see of my beautiful baby girl.
re-ds-ing
Well, that new DS Lite I bought the other day with the dead pixel... I took it back. I got a new one, with another dead pixel. Well that makes three DS models I've owned now and each and every one came with a dead pixel, all in random places. I guess I'm stuck with a dead pixel no matter what.
That sucks.
That sucks.
re-building
Those SDLMAME builds I posted the other day sure enough did need rebuilds. So if you were one of the unlucky ones who actually went and got those... go get them again!

Updated my G4 builds to the current mainline changes today. SDLMAME hasn't officially been updated, so these builds might need rebuilding in a day pending any official changes. But they are current as of now.

ds lite
I bought a Nintendo DS Lite today so I could play my to-be Christmas present of Final Fantasy III from my girlfriend on it. I had originally owned a DS but didn't like how ugly and bulky it was so I ended up selling it. With the release of FFIII and the redesigned DS out, I decided to give it another shot. I am very impressed with the sleekness of the device. It no longer feels like I have a cheap toy, but I now have a great shiny piece of gaming equipment.
There's only one problem with the thing, a dead pixel. It wouldn't be a issue if it was in the corner of the screen, or not noticeable. But this thing glows bright green on a black background. And that's just ugly.
I'm going back to the store tomorrow to exchange my new purchase for one hopefully without a dead pixel.
I do, however, recommend that if you do not own a DS, go get a DS Lite. It is a wonderful piece of engineering and a very sleek design.
And my girlfriend thinks Nintendo sucks...

annoying
When I log out of my blogger.com account, since it's connected to my google account, it logs me out of all my google stuff too. This includes my google homepage, gmail, and um.. well that's it. But, fuck it's annoying. I definitely think the cookies should be separate. I want to always be logged into my google homepage but I do not always want to be logged into blogger.com. They should stay two distinct entities and not be tied together. Just my two cents.
